By Monk Thomas Hildebrand
The doorway of truth like all doorways, if only opened partway, the fullness of the experience and learning can be more challenging. Padre gave a talk at the last CLM retreat: “The truth will set you free”. He said he was reaching deep into the confessional and showed us by his own confession what’s available on the other side. The truth is that I was not loved as much as I needed as a child. My inner child through most of my life has been seeking love, or to be loved, and not always in the right places. I did not always ask for God‘s hand to walk with me so that I could feel divine companionship and love that I have in my life today. This confessional does not have to be in a church. The doorway to God is always right in front of me, it is always right here with me.
So many of the doors in my life I have opened without God, the doors to my past when I unconsciously wander back can appear like unforgiving territory. The doors to understanding and knowledge from an experience like my baptism are very real and remind me I am not alone ever and that I have been forgiven. What does the doorway before you now open for you? Are you willing to put everything down and connect with your spirit your divine self in this moment?
Prayer:
Heavenly mother, heavenly father, hold us in a way that we can be ever vigilant to your presence. Hold us so that we can always know the strength that is there for us because you have told us so. We can let go knowing you are here with us now. Open us fully to your love and grace. We sit here with you empty ready to be filled with your divine essence. Amen
